Veterinary Permit to Import Animal Feed and its Components
- The import permit must be applied for before the shipment is exported from the country of export.
- Permits are valid for one month from the date of issue.
- Application can be submitted for multiple types of feeds in a single permit.
- The following shall be attached to each group of feeds:
- a. chemical composition.
- b. ingredients.
- c. Species intended for use the feed. d. production & expiry dates.
- e. country of origin/ export. The Ministry may require additional requirements depending on species, place of origin or any other reason.
- The Ministry may specify the entry port.
- Veterinary Quarantine Department may refuse entry.
- Pre-conditions for fishery products:
- a.The feed used should be composed of known ingredients and in accordance with international specifications and specific to the type of farmed aquaculture, as determined by the competent authority, and shall include on the packaging a statement of these ingredients and their expiry date.
- b. It is prohibited to use animal or poultry waste as feed unless it is harmless to human health and thermally treated to kill the living cells of harmful bacteria. It is also prohibited to use human waste as feed or fertilizers to feed farmed aquaculture.
- c. No fees on importing feed.
- Test Certificate.
- Certificate of Origin.
- Approval of the permits shall be within two hours of the application, during the official working hours and for seven days a week (All days).
- Release of Shipment round the clock, non-stop 24 hours; i.e. the release of the shipment submitted shall be within two hours of submitting the goods for the inspection of the relevant authority.
