The Royal Oman Police celebrates World Customs Day 2023

The Royal Oman Police affirmed that it continues to work on developing and modernizing aspects of customs work and facilitating customs procedures, noting the importance of effective partnerships with the private sector and the commercial community. This came during the celebration of World Customs Day, under the slogan “Next Generation Care: Promoting a Culture of Knowledge Exchange and Professional Pride in Customs” under the auspices of Major General Khalifa bin Ali bin Nassr Al Siyabi, Assistant Inspector General of Police and Customs for Administrative and Financial Affairs, in the presence of a number of their Excellencies, representatives of government agencies and the private sector, that related to customs work at the Directorate General of Customs in Muscat.

Brigadier Saeed bin Khamis Al Ghaithi, Director General of Customs delivered a speech in which he explained that the Royal Oman Police, represented by the Directorate General of Customs, continues the process of development and modernization in various aspects of customs work, noting a number of steps that the Directorate General of Customs has implemented in order to facilitate customs procedures and facilitate the movement of trade. He touched on the role of the Directorate General of Customs in providing high-quality services to the commercial community, protecting the country from all risks, and supporting the national economy through strategic planning and effective management of customs work. The Brigadier pointed out the importance of effective partnership with the private sector and the commercial community, in general, to enhance transparency and trust and provide a working system that facilitates the movement of trade exchange without prejudice to customs control.



During the ceremony, the new version of the website of the General Administration of Customs was launched, in its updated version in terms of content and design. The website includes a set of panoramic images expressing the competence of customs and the land, air and sea border crossings. It also includes the most important things that customs provide to the citizen, trader and investor through six icons, most notably services. An icon has also been allocated to register companies in the system directly, in addition to business services and the facilities needed by the commercial community. In addition to an icon for travelers' services and what they seek to know about customs procedures when traveling. There is also an icon that includes various statistics related to trade exchange between the Sultanate of Oman and countries of the world. The site also includes an icon for the most important user guides for procedural or electronic customs services in a detailed manner. The website also includes a set of important services that the traveler and trader can benefit from, such as the customs declaration service for travelers, the search for prerequisites for goods, and the pre-rule service on top of Information about free trade agreements and highlights customs laws and regulations.

The ceremony included a presentation of a film about the role of policewomen in customs work, reviewing the role of women police and the most prominent tasks that women work in various customs disciplines such as customs clearance, inspection and inspection at land, air and sea border crossings, in addition to their work in the field of technology such as working in managing the electronic Bayan system as well as their work As a specialist in the field of tariffs, statistics, customs auditing, planning, and performance evaluation.

The ceremony also featured a video clip introducing the partnership initiative with the commercial community, which embodies a group of international agreements and initiatives of the World Customs Organization on facilitating cross-border trade, with the aim of achieving more integration and effective partnership for the commercial community by listening to the views of the private sector and the challenges they face in the fields of work. Customs, creating a partnership with the private sector in drawing up and formulating some customs procedures and initiatives, exchanging information and experiences on global customs best practices, and enhancing the level of international competitiveness indicators of the Sultanate of Oman in the customs field.

Coinciding with the celebration of World Customs Day, the Directorate General of Customs issued the fifth issue of the magazine (Customs of Oman). The fifth issue of the magazine includes a set of chapters, most notably the issue file, a legal and logistical window, and a statement to highlight aspects of development in the Bayan system, services and facilities provided to the citizen and the commercial community, in addition to other chapters such as customs issues, a guest of the issue, an economic angle, and various articles fields of customs affairs, such as customs clearance and free markets, and investment warehouses.

At the end of the ceremony, Major General Assistant Inspector General of Police and Customs for Administrative and Financial Affairs honored the honorable officers of the Directorate General of Customs, the sponsor of the occasion, also honored Muscat International Airport as the best customs port for the year 2022, the Directorate General of Criminal Investigation as the best military entity associated with the Bayan system, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources as the best governmental sector associated with the Bayan system, in addition to honoring the best customs clearance institution and the best customs clearance representative for 2022. Also granting the certificate of the authorized economic operator to a number of companies operating in the field of import and export.
